Communication and Digital Operations  - Intern

• Must be a rising junior or senior
• 3.0 or above GPA required
• Must be available to work May 14th through August 3rd
• Wage: $18.50 per hour

NRECA’s employee benefits communication and digital operations teams develop communication campaigns around NRECA’s group insurance and retirement product offerings across multiple platforms including NRECA’s Employee Benefits website.

The intern will partner with communication managers on components of campaigns that need development and finalization. Materials will include presentations, newsletter content, videos and web copy among others. Interns with graphic design experience will be asked to do basic design/layout work for final materials.

The intern will also partner with the digital operations team to help build out a SharePoint site for the field staff, create graphics and images for the employee benefits website and support the team with smaller project requests that come from the members and require both content creation, editorial and graphic design experience.

Purpose and Mission

Partner with communication managers on the development of newsletter copy as well as deliverables associated with larger campaigns relating to retirement and group insurance products.  Support development/refinement of various presentations and associated collateral for summer conferences. Assist digital operations team in auditing content on the employee benefits website and help create a plan for ongoing content updates. Develop site map and content for internal facing website for the field staff and help build out the beta version. Develop training materials for internal staff for products on the employee benefits website.

• Attend client meetings with communication managers
• Partner with communication and digital operation staff to maintain accurate production schedules associated with communication campaigns
• Draft copy for communications collateral associated with educational campaigns for retirement and group insurance products
• Work with graphic designers to create or update materials as necessary
• Develop content for newsletters relating to retirement and group insurance products
• Work closely with individuals on the digital operations team to build out content and wireframes for various experiences across internal and external facing websites
• Attend meetings with digital operations staff to gather requirements for various website products

Requirements and Qualifications

• Preferred Degree Program: Communications/Marketing/PR/graphic design or related field
• Communications/marketing experience (either internship/work experience or college major)
• Familiarity/interest in graphic design, video (script writing, production, etc.) or other related field
• Have digital communications/marketing experience or desire to learn in this area
• Strong writing/editorial skills
• Skills with Microsoft Office suite
• Familiarity with graphic design software, like adobe creative suite is a plus
• Experience with content management systems
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability/desire to engage on technical topics and create approachable communications
• Work independently on project assignments
