Strategic Initiatives Intern
Note: This is an intern position. You must be a rising college junior or senior with a 3.0 GPA.
The intern will conduct research, data analysis, and author technical deliverables, while also fulfilling a research need for NRECAs Business and Technology Strategies Department. More broadly, the Strategic Initiatives intern will learn more about the goals and mission of NRECA, including the new role of electrification, and electric co-ops, and will potentially be motivated to pursue a career in the electric industry, or specifically in the co-op world.
Purpose and Mission
Assist in research and writing related to initiatives around beneficial electrification, key drivers of load, and the importance of affordable electricity.
Collaborate with internal NRECA staff to better understand electric generation and emissions issues in the electric industry, and how they relate to work performed in the Business and Technology Strategies department.
Obtain and analyze data on key economic indicators, GHG emissions, electric generation, development in rural communities, and other related topics.
Explore additional ways for data to be employed in addressing generation, emissions, and affordability issues in the electric industry.
Work with Business and Technology Strategies staff to gain a deeper understanding of the electric industry, and the co-op world.
Requirements and Qualifications
Economics, Engineering, Statistics, Environmental Science, or a related quantitative field degree program
Rising Junior/Senior in college.
Strong analytical skills and knowledge of economic theory.
Familiarity with electric industry and GHG emissions.
Ability to read, understand, and communicate qualitative and quantitative information.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Self-sufficient and able to manage multiple priorities.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
This is an intern position.
3.0 or above GPA required and Must be a rising junior or senior
Dates: May 14th through August 3rd
Wages: $18.50 per hour
