Transmission and Distribution Research Archival Intern

Note: This is an intern position. You must be a rising college junior or senior with a 3.0 GPA.

Signature product of the T&D Work Group Intern will be to develop and write a strategy including a scoring or metrics-based system that illustrates the value of research reports based on multiple technical and member engagement factors. 

This internship will provide strong exposure to foundational aspects of transmission and distribution engineering and operations, along with emerging areas of renewables, interconnection of distributed resources, and distribution automation.

Purpose and Mission

• Assist the T&D Work Group by reviewing and organizing existing technical research projects and reports for their continued relevance and value to co-op Engineering & Operations (E&O) staff across the country.

• Signature product of the T&D Work Group Intern will be to develop and write a strategy including criteria and a scoring or metrics system that illustrate the value of research reports based on multiple technical and member engagement factors besides publication date. 

• Evaluate ways to organize and improve search function of projects on Where possible, harmonize organization and search methods for consistency.

• Where only hard copies are available, organize for review by T&D Work Group members as appropriate to determine whether such projects should be scanned and set up for searchability.

• Improve visibility, accessibility and searchability of these projects by co-op E&O staff. Harmonize search criteria across older and newer projects.

• Identify projects which may be of interest to other Work Groups (such as Distributed Energy Resources) so they can determine whether such projects should continue to be available.

• Time permitting, assist those Work Groups similarly.

Requirements and Qualifications

Engineering degree program (such as electrical, mechanical, civil). Added emphasis in Business or Technical writing desirable.

• Rising Junior/Senior College
• Technical aptitude.
• Study focus in engineering (electrical, mechanical, and civil) preferred
• Strong written and communication skills
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Team player
• Experience in multimedia and video editing

This is an intern position.
3.0 or above GPA required and Must be a rising junior or senior
Dates: May 14th through August 3rd
Wages: $18.50 per hour
