Investment & Retirement Associate  - P1

Answer incoming questions through the Personal Investment & Retirement Consulting (PIRC) line and PIRC email inbox and respond to participant inquiries. Educate current and retired/separated participants in the 401(k) and Retirement Security Plans on various financial and investment topics, including descriptions of 401(k) Plan investment options, an explanation of the distribution options under both plans, and general asset allocation guidance. Direct participants to appropriate internal resources (including other members of Insurance & Financial Services (I&FS) or other NRECA Divisions) to answer questions and resolve concerns in a timely fashion. Track status of participant inquiries using a client relationship management (CRM) database. Assist Retirement Specialists with processing of written retirement plans.

Purpose and Mission

        Work with participants over the phone to provide investment education and guidance in accordance with I&FS Department standards and high quality customer service.

        Educate participants on asset allocation and assist them with retirement planning strategies.  Describe 401(k) Plan investment option objectives, strategies and associated risks. Answer questions relative to fund performance and account activity, as well as any other questions related to the management of the funds. 

        Provide assistance navigating the NRECA Employee Benefits website to find information about the investment options, individual account information, as well as how to make fund allocation changes. 

        Resolve issues in a suitable and timely fashion and document conversations in the CRM database.

        When necessary, refer participant inquiries to the appropriate internal resource for proper response, including professionals both inside and outside of the I&FS Department.  Educate participants in the services available to them through PIRC and refer participants to a Planner as appropriate for more in-depth service or to request a written retirement plan.

        The person who occupies this position has the responsibility for the proper security and disposal of any confidential information that he or she may possess in the course of performing this position's job duties.

        Assist Retirement Specialists with processing of and delivering written retirement plans to participants. 

        Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the 401(k) Pension Plan and Retirement Security Plan.  Become proficient in using OMNI AdminWeb and the NRECA Employee Benefits website for accessing 401(k) Pension Plan and Retirement Security Plan participant information and for providing investment education and problem resolution.  Stay current in the latest legal and business developments in the areas of retirement/investment planning, education funding, and personal portfolio management.


Requirements and Qualifications

        Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field

        One to two years experience delivering outstanding customer service, preferably in the financial services industry

        Knowledge of securities, mutual funds, 401(k) plans, and the investments industry

        Outstanding team player

        Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (written and verbal)

        Demonstrated problem solver

        Ability to remain calm and controlled when dealing in a challenging situation

        Demonstrated ability  to communicate comfortably and effectively with a diverse group of individuals at all career stages and levels
