Manager, Accounts Receivable-M1

Leads a staff of accountants responsible for all aspects of accounts receivable (invoicing through collections and reporting) for three benefit plans and all revenue streams across the Association’s lines of business.

Purpose and Mission

Leadership of the unit:
o Hire, train, and guide staff in all aspects of their work; provide regular feedback and coaching
o Set clear operating standards, objectives and expectations
o Develop staff knowledge and technical skills
o Manage team resources to ensure seamless day-to-day coverage and respond to unexpected requests

Ensure operational efficiency:
o Ensure integrity of the unit’s internal controls and work product
o Continually review and update documentation of processes and procedures
o Ensures unit compliance with ERISA and FEC for transaction processing and reporting
o Interfaces with banking partners to resolve issues and implement process improvements
o Develops, monitors, and reviews operational metrics and statistics to inform operating procedure changes and resource allocation decisions

Empower team leads to:
o Ensure daily work is accurate, complete, and timely
o Resolve issues within the unit and with business units
o Prepare accurate and timely reporting in accordance with GAAP and applicable industry regulations
o Execute appropriate collections activities

Responsible for A/R systems and modules:
o Address any issues with internal or external connections
o Oversee system changes and upgrades
o Ensure test scripts and completed unit testing are thorough and executed appropriately
o Prepare business cases for system enhancements and new features

Serve as advisor throughout the Association:
o Represent the needs and interests of Accounts Receivable through various cross-departmental initiatives, steering committees, and projects.
o Collaborate with, and advise, business units to understand needs and concerns regarding existing and new initiatives.  

Requirements and Qualifications

• 10 or more years accounting experience, at least five supervisory
• Strong ability to prioritize, make sound decisions quickly, and demonstrate good judgment
• Ability to motivate and develop employees to ensure unit cohesion
• Ability to be persuasive, negotiate, and collaborate with business units
• Excellent collaboration, and written and verbal communication skills
• Comfort with new systems
